It’s hard to be trans.
In addition to families who may not accept you or dismiss you or in some cases flat-out disown you, there are potential pitfalls and humiliating, even painful situations everywhere- harassment from former friends or those who try to ‘talk you out of it’, public bathrooms, employee and government paperwork (do I lie to myself? or should I tell a truth and look a liar?), even things as innocuous as swimming comfortably with friends in public become practically impossible. In summer I am always overheating, because I wear four layers in 90F weather. This isn’t something that’s comfortable, or fun for me, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to go away if I ignore it. And I can’t imagine something more depressing than to experience the rest of my youth slipping away because I can’t afford the health services that I’d need to start my life.
People have donated more generously than I ever expected, but I still need to raise enough money to cover my medical expenses for the next two years before I start- starting hormones and then having to stop the hormones because of lack of funds can cause osteoporosis. And after two years, I lose my insurance.
WAYS YOU CAN HELP
Free: Reblog this, please! It won’t cost you anything, but it would help me out a lot.
Donations: The button is on the side of my tumblr! Seriously, every little bit helps- THANK YOU SO MUCH.
Commissions: If you donate $20 or more, you can request some art from me! Just put your tumblrname in the donation notes so I know who you are, and then submit your request with some details or references (because I may not know your fandom well, or original characters at all) via tumblr. After I fill it, I’ll either send it to your email or post it on my tumblr and send you a link! If your request makes me uncomfortable or I’m otherwise unable to fulfill your request, you will be refunded. The more you donate, the nicer I’ll try to make the art!
